The 1919 is a mounted machine gun that was popular in the twentieth century. It was especially used in the Second World War, the Vietnam War, and the Korean War. It was was used in two man infantry support teams but in practice usually needed four men to operate; two of which to carry ammunition belts.
By the end of WWII the 1919 had been re-engineered by the air force and mounted on planes. It was used regularly as both an offensive and defensive weapon on fighter planes.
